Final trials and pre-season 2017

Welcome to the 2017–2018 season! Tiffin pre-season begins on Monday 17th July, 7.30–9.30 at Tiffin Girls’ School, followed by our final trials on Monday 24th July, 7–9pm at Tiffin Girls’ School.

If you’re looking for a new competitive netball club for the 2017-2018 season, with three qualified coaches and indoor training in the winter, please do get in touch by emailing or contacting us on our Facebook page or via twitter. We are looking for players for all five squads including our Regional and County teams.

Thank you to all the existing club players we’ve seen back on the court at the first two trials, and welcome to all the new faces and those coming up from the junior club to Tiffin!

– Lou, Mick & Claire (Tiffin Senior Coaches)

We’re officially in pre-season training!!

Our trials are now over and we’re now into pre-season training. Trials brought out some great netball and it was lovely to see many new faces and combinations. It was also a chance for us to meet our new upper squad coach Lou, who has already made a positive impact on our club.

As we had so many lovely new faces along on Monday night, coaches will continue to select squads next Monday (19th of July). While our official trailing dates are completed, we’re always on the look out for players of a good standard, so please to contact us on our Facebook page, twitter or good old fashioned email if you’re interested in coming along.

Monday will give the coaches a chance to see different combinations between players and it will give the new players a glimpse into what Tiffin is all about!

Preseason will be going on for the rest of July and the entire month of August with Lou, Mick and Clare taking most of the sessions. Please remember to fill out your availability.

What a fortnight Netball in England! We’re all exhausted from the early starts last week! Just before the team took off to Sydney, England Netball came down to join us in Twickenham to see what we were up to!

Elaine (Coach/Player/Chief) and Nicky (Regional Captain/Personal Trainer extraordinaire) took us through our 1st weights session and here is what Elaine had to say about the experience.

“Along with the coaches, Nicky and I wanted to have a really structured pre-season to ensure we all hit the season in peak condition. Held at world-class facility at St Mary’s University, our aim was to ensure that everyone became familiar with using free weights as this should form part of our training programmes outside of netball.

“These exercises will be part of the seasons training programme, in order to try and maximise performance as well as help reduce injury risk. (Elaine’s area of interest & expertise). More women are engaging in regular weight training and seeing the benefits and for netball players the benefits are undeniable.”

Everyone loved the session and we all got a lot out of it, the weights were fun, and it was even followed by quick, high-intensity circuits at the end – there’s no stopping us!

This training will complement the skills based and tactical training through the season that our wonderful coaches put together and we all look forward to a great season ahead.

Keep your eye out in England Netball mag for the official article. Go Tiffs!

Tiffin As guaranteed their place in the County League last weekend, thanks to beating Barnes and Karisma in the Playoffs. After a successful season, and finishing the Prem A league in second place behind current county team Cobham, the As fought to victory last Sunday morning, and will now be in County for 15/16. This means Tiffin Netball Club’s top two teams take their places in both Regional and County Leagues for the forthcoming season… making Tiffin one of the most successful clubs in the area. The team played excellently, brill defence and pressure all the way down the court, and the with the shooting on form, we finished the day unbeaten. Good work by everyone, including the wonderful supporters, who came out in their numbers and took to the side-line, giving us, the always useful, 8th player! We’re all over the moon with our achievement this season, our team’s aim was to get to playoffs, and despite the number of hurdles, including some terrible injuries (Clare B) and with babies on the way (Sophie W) we stepped up, got to playoffs, and won them! Such a beautiful morning for the last game of the Season, the sun came out and the shots started to flow, let’s hope it stays out now throughout the Summer League, and roll on into the new season. Great day all round, even the Pizza and Prosecco after the game, we’re all super excited about the season ahead. Go Tiffs!
